WELCOME to John Greenleaf Whittier Elementary School! We are proud of our school and community. My name is Peggy Mystrow and I am the School Leader. It is my 16th year as part of the Whittier family. It is our goal to help every student reach his/her highest level of achievement.
Our school is a warm, caring place where students feel comfortable about learning. We provide routines and procedures that create the structure needed to give children a strong academic foundation. Our staff works together to support the strong values you have instilled in your children.

2011 National Blue Ribbon School
U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan designated Whittier Elementary one of 305 U.S. 2011 National Blue Ribbon Schools and one of only eight in Wisconsin. It is the first time the K4-5 school has earned the designation and the first one in Milwaukee Public Schools since 2007.
