Our Next Generation, Inc. (ONG) with its center at 35th and Lisbon, has been providing youth service to the Washington Park, Westside and Walnut Hill community for more than 15 years. The agency focuses on educational support of youth and works collaboratively with other agencies and community residents to strengthen the community.
In partnership with Westside Academy I & II, the agency coordinates after school and summer programming at the Westside sites. These Community Learning Centers begin the daily program with a meal and then structured homework and academic sessions. Enrichment activities, such as reading, poetry, gym, tech lab and personal development follow. Nearly 200 children benefit from program each night.
Additionally, ONG is coordinating a program to engage Westside eighth graders with The High School Connection. It is a program designed to help youth stay focused on personal and academic success. The High School Connection, through mentoring, job training programs, teen support and tutoring help youth succeed in high school and better prepare for adulthood. Youth completing the High School Connection program are eligible for ONG scholarships to attend college and other post-high school training programs.

The agency also provides one-on-one tutoring, the LINC program for Westside II middle school children, and coordinates teen discussion groups at its St. Andrew’s Community Center.
