NJHS & Habitat for Humanity

IMG_0313

Westside Academy’s National Junior Honor Society is making a difference with their required service hours. The NJHS is helping Habitat for Humanity. While they are not old enough to work on a local site, they are painting rain barrels used in new construction in Habitat’s Blitz Build.  The build site is located at 1426 North 34th Street in the Washington Park neighborhood. Westside’s NJHS chapter visited to site to see first-hand how Habitat for Humanity builds their homes and to ask questions of the volunteers.

Milwaukee Rep Theatre

Seventh and eighth grade students participate in an after-school program with the Milwaukee Rep Theatre. Students are currently researching the history of the Washington Park neighborhood and will present their findings at a family night on June 5. As a part of this program, they attended “Clybourne Park” and “A Raisin in the Sun” at the Rep.
