Townsend Street School 2018-19 Theory of Action
Our data review indicates that African American students in grades two through four are disproportionally underachieving in the areas of reading. 68% of the students in these grade levels scored significantly below or well below in the area of reading. Our strategic priority is in foundational reading through the lens of social support. Based on data analysis, students are underperforming in the areas of Craft and Structure within literature and Integration of Knowledge and Ideas within informational text.
If teachers create and utilize classroom based assessments based on these specific needs (CCSS), and teachers use the PLC (professional learning community) process with student work, then we will see a reduction in the number of students who are significantly below and well below in the area of reading as measured by the STAR data.
