2.Juniors, are you interested in learning more about the college admissions process? Your school counselors along with college admissions reprsentatives from the University of Chicago are offering a College admissions Workshop this summer. We will explore, “What Makes a Great College Application, the College Essay, and Understanding Financial Aid”. Please stop in 212 to pick up an interest form. Space is limited, so stop in the counseling office today to pick up your interest form!
3.Juniors! If you have not already turned in your college planning forms, Please turn your forms (Student Profile, College Planning Questionnaire, Request for Recommendation, Senior Review,) in to your counselor ASAP!
4.WHHOHOOOOOOO (recording of an elephant) That’s the sound of the elephant in the room, So let’s talk about it! The Red Elephant Project helps women and young girls in Kenya, Nigeria, and Uganda with supplies for their menstrual cycle. It has been known that these women and young girls use mattress stuffing , leaves, and other horrible items during their monthly cycles and often stay home from school. Help the Red Elephant Project by purchasing T-Shirts for just $10!!!! and help young women get an education!
5.Rufus King is collecting Box Tops for Education through April 15th. Remind your family to cut out Box Tops, place them in an envelope with your name and grade, and drop them in a collection box in the Attendance office or Main office. The winner will get a $25 gift certificate to the restaurant of their choice. Rufus King staff is also eligible for this contest! Start saving!
6.Atencion! Ethnic Fest is just around the corner. We will be celebrating this event on Friday, April 7th. Don’t forget we will have great performances by our very own clubs which will be followed by authentic cuisine, henna tattoos and much more! Don’t forget to bring some dinero on April 7th.
7.Students of Rufus King International High School: The IB mission is to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, caring students who help to create a better and more peaceful world. To that end, let’s all do our part to show respect for all and follow the school policy for students participating in after school activities. Students must be in their after school activity by 3:00pm. School safety will sweep the building and you may be asked to leave the building if you are found in the hallways. Please be at your activity at 3:00 promptly. Also, if you think there is someone in our building who doesn’t belong here, you have a responsibility to tell someone right away. Together we can continue to make Rufus King a safe and fun place to learn.
