Strong parental involvement is one of the strengths of our school, and membership in the PTSO provides a solid network of resources to facilitate that involvement. Membership is just $5.00 per family, and helps us pay for events throughout the year. Fees can be given to the school office as cash or check made payable to Rufus King High School with “PTSO” in the memo line.

Come to a meeting! Our 2017-18 meeting dates are Oct 2, Nov. 6, Dec 4, Feb 5, and April 2 and May 7 at 6 p.m. In the fall, meetings will be held in the Little Theater at the high school. In the spring, we’ll confirm the time and place through the listserv.
A lot is going on at the high school — how can you keep up? The PTSO sends out a monthly newsletter that you can receive by joining our listserv at http://eepurl.com/GUPID— but there are other, more frequent sources of news as well. You must sign up to receive the following notifications:
School announcements: Go to the high school webpage. At the bottom right hand column of every page on the site is a box that says “Subscribe for School Updates.” By providing your email, you will receive the same announcements that are read over the P.A. every day. A great resource for news about clubs, extracurricular trips, sports deadlines and results, etc.
Parent listserv: Ms. Herlache in the main office sends out occasional announcements from the guidance office regarding scholarships and job fairs, from the PTSO asking for volunteers for specific events, from the community regarding academic and other opportunities, and more. Ms. Carrington may also use this list-serv on occasion. Write Ms. Herlache at firstname.lastname@example.org to be included in these mailings.
Robo-calls. The school also gives information about upcoming dates and deadlines by telephone robo-call. If you haven’t received any, call the school or email Ms. Herlache to make sure they have your correct phone number.
