PARENTS, please take a few moments and complete the 2018-2019 Parent Interest Survey!
Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year – my name is Andrea Pratt, and I am so pleased and very proud to introduce myself to you as the Parent Coordinator for Rufus King High School. Welcome class of 2021 – we are very excited to have you, and look forward to a busy academic year!
We recognize the impact that parental involvement has on student success – especially at the high school level, and we are committed to partnering with all our households as we encourage each of our students to reach their maximum potential while enrolled at King, and beyond. This year we hope to build on the gains that were made last year and increase parental participation and involvement.
High school is such an important time in a young person’s life, and as an IB school, we are especially committed to aid parents to “…develop inquiring knowledgeable and caring young people…” and part of that commitment is to offer a comfortable space for parents to engage staff and access information. We were fortunate enough to have been awarded a significant grant from Lowe’s Toolbox for Education® and we made significant upgrades to the parent space.
First and foremost, I am available to assist you and your student navigate the school – so, if you have a question about who can help, what programs are available, when activities and events are scheduled to occur, why procedures are in place, how you can assist at the school, or just want to stop in to say hello, please don’t hesitate to connect with me! I’m sure that I don’t have all the answers but I will get you the information that you need.
Secondly, we need you!! You have expertise and experiences that may be of use to us – so please consider volunteering – both your time and your talents are so valuable! There are many opportunities for you to be involved- you can join the PTSO, attend a volunteer orientation, then volunteer at the school, or just attend any of our athletic, artistic or community events.
The parent center is located on the second floor, in the library, and is available to you during school hours.
I can be reached by email – firstname.lastname@example.org, office phone – 414.267.0724, or just stop by the school between the hours of 7:30 a.m. & 1:45 p.m. – I’m looking forward to meeting and working with you.
Thank you for your time, and thank you for sharing your student with us as at Rufus King High School.
Ms. Andrea Pratt
