1.Students are not to ride the elevator with out an elevator pass. This pass is issued by the attendance secretary or nurse with a medical excuse. Students who ride the elevator without a pass or permission from an administrator will receive a consequence by an administrator. If you don’t have a pass, you must get permission to ride the elevator when you are helping someone with an elevator pass carry his or her belongings. Students, as a reminder, please keep your hats and hoodies off in the building.
2.Attention freshmen interested in completing Personal Project! The Advisor Meet ‘n Greet is scheduled for TOMORROW Tuesday, May 9th after school in the library. Plan to stay for 10-15 minutes to find an advisor and have your first face-to-face meeting. Bring your completed yellow parent permission form!
3.Attention NHS Members: Our next general meeting: Thursday May 11th has been postponed and will be rescheduled in August. Have a peaceful day Rufus King, Mr. Wagner
4.Earthwatch Applications are here! If you are interested in attending one of the Earthwatch expeditions, pick up an application from Ms. Boettcher or Mrs. Miennert ASAP. They are due by Monday, May 15. There will be no meeting – all information is on the application.
5.Asian club! I hope you guys had a great year, because our LAST meeting will be on Tuesday the 9th. This meeting is mandatory for all Asian club members so we can vote for officers and eat one last meal together. See you on Tuesday in Barna’s room!
6.ALL Full Diploma Juniors!!! Don’t forget our Extended Essay Café is set for the evening of May 9th in the cafeteria, your attendance is mandatory. You can start setting up around 5:30pm and it will run until 7:00pm. All are welcome so bring your parents, friends, or that guy who lives in a van down by the river. See Mr. Joseph with any questions or concerns.
7.Seniors, Thursday is Cap and Gown day. It is YOUR day to show the rest of the RKIS Community that you will be soon joining the ranks of Rufus King Alumni, by proudly wearing your graduation Cap and Gown. Again this Thursday is Cap and Gown day for all current seniors.
8. Attention LGBT+Club members and Rufus King Students:The LGBT+ Club received Courage MKE’s GSA Grant for our hard work, support and dedication to our LGBTQ school community. We were nominated by Milwaukee High School of the Arts’ GSA! Thank you to all of our LGBT+ members and student leaders for making Rufus King a better place for all students! Congratulations!
9. Good Morning Rufisians (Roo-Fee-see-ins)! If you are interested in joining one of the most inviting, accepting, and dominating sports at King this fall then please stop by Room 128 after school on WEDNESDAY, MAY 10TH for a VERY BRIEF Info Meeting about Cross Country. Cross Country is a non cut sport, so ANYONE who has some desire to run will be welcomed. Please stop by and pick up the info packets on Wednesday and/or see Mr. Zeise in Room 128 if you can’t attend the meeting. Cross Country…Just Join it!
10.Yearbooks are in! If you pre-ordered a copy of the 2017 yearbook, please stop by room 328 before or after school or before your lunch hour to pick up your copy! Again, that’s room 328 before or after school or before your lunch hour ONLY. Thank you! – Ms. Seiler
11.The varsity softball team won all 4 games this weekend to win the conference tournament. Rayne Deffenbaugh won 2 games while Amber Heun and Ikiria Hayes each won one. Ikiria Hayes also led the team with 8 hits. Destiny Robinson added 7 hits while Isabel St. Arnold had 6 hits. Lauren Trific and Amber Heun each collected 5 hits while Rayne Deffenbaugh, Adisina Reyna, Gabby Isham, and Piper Smith contributed with 3 hits. Kayla Cotton chipped in with 2 hits. The Lady Generals are now 16-2.
12.The boys golf team won the city conference mini-meet on Friday at Warnimont Golf Course. They won easily by a margin of 50 strokes on the nearest competition. Leading the way were John Koch (1st place), Ryan Dean (2nd place) and Rowan Cheda (6th place). Nice job Generals!!
13.Rufus King ACE Coalition members: our last meeting of the school year will be this Tuesday, May 9th, from 3:00-4:30pm in room 210. We will be celebrating the end of our first year with a variety of activities. Please bring food of your choice, enough to share.
