1.Many African Americans eat Black-eyed peas for the New Year for good luck.The practice of eating black-eyed peas dates back to the Civil War. At first used as food for livestock, and later a food staple for slaves in the South, black-eyed peas were ignored as Sherman’s troops destroyed or stole other crops, thereby giving the humble, but nourishing, black-eyed pea an important role as a major food source for surviving Confederates.

5.Attention all full diploma seniors!! The absolute deadline for completing CAS is Friday, April 16th! Everything must be uploaded to Managebac including your evidence and reflections of CAS activities. At this point in time your self-initiated project should be complete or very close to complete. If you have any questions please see Ms. Dempsey in room 332.
6.A pre-season parent track meeting will be held at Rufus King on 2/23 at 5:30 in the cafeteria. Schedules and expectations will be issues to parents at this meeting. If you plan on running track, please tell your parents to be there. Thanks – Coach Matthew and Coach Fisher.
