Milwaukee Parkside warmly welcomed Walker’s Point Center for the Arts’ talented artist, Maikue Vang during the spring semester.
Ms. Vang worked with the comprehensive classrooms on a unit intended to enhance the school gardens. The students put together sensorial pedestals, totem sculptures and whimsical wind chimes. The sensorial and visual aspects of the project were designed to actively engage the students in an experience connecting them to the environment and also a project they could make uniquely their own.
The first portion of the sculptures were installed at the Garden Club’s recent work date on May 21st. The colorful pieces are a welcome addition to the gardens, further enhancing the natural beauty.
Milwaukee Parkside would like to thank Walker’s Point Center for the Arts, artist Maikue Vang and Executive Director, Ana Melo, for this special opportunity. Also, a huge thank you to Lowe’s located in Wauwatosa for their very generous donation of all of the supplies needed to complete the project.
