January 14, 2022
Dear MSL Families,
On behalf of all of us here at Milwaukee School of Languages we would like to thank you for your time, patience, and flexibility as we continue to navigate this school year.
We will return to in-person instruction on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022. School hours will remain the same, 8:05am-3:20pm.
As we return to in-person instruction, there are a few critical areas where we will need your help and commitment to ensure we are doing everything we can to stay healthy and in-person:
- Feeling ill: If your child is feeling ill or displaying any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19, they should remain home and the main office should be contacted to report the absence. It is expected, that if well enough, students access classroom work through the Google Classroom.
- Reporting a close contact or positive case: Please contact the main office at 393-5700 and ask to speak with the school nurse.
- Mask Wearing:
- All people in the building are required to wear a mask over their nose at all times. Exceptions are allowed when eating and drinking.
- Mask will be available to students, if needed, as they enter the building. KN95 masks can be made available upon request.
- Students are expected to sit in their assigned area in the cafeteria and maintain social distancing. Once students are done eating, they are expected to position their mask over the nose again.
- We will be using a progressive approach in enforcing the mask requirement, including parent contact. Repeated violation of the mask requirement may result in a out of school suspension.
- Hallways: Another layer of mitigation is to minimize coming face to face with other individuals, students are expected to walk to the right of the hallway during passing times. There is red tape down the middle of the hallway. This includes using the middle stairwell only when going up to the second floor.
- All students are expected to bring a water bottle with water with them daily. There will be a water fountain available on each floor for refills. Students are not to drink directly from water fountains or dump other liquids in them.
- Handwashing: Students should be washing their hands as needed and consistently throughout the day, avoiding contact with mouth and eyes. Hand sanitizer is available in the classrooms and at student entrances in the morning as they come in.
- Bathrooms: Bathroom use will be limited to 2 occupants. Students must plan accordingly throughout the day.
We thank you for your assistance with these efforts, and as always, thank you for your partnership in the education of your child.
Stay blessed and be safe.
Yours in Service,
Dr. Juan A. Baez
Principal
