Laternennacht (Lantern Night)
Friday, November 10, 2017, 6:30 pm
A beloved German tradition, St. Martin’s Day is observed by children in Germany carrying lanterns in a parade. St. Martin was known as a “friend to children and patron of the poor.” Read more on Wikipedia
At MGIS, we celebrate this time of year with a food drive, a singing program that begins in the gym and cafeteria, and then parading around the park with our lanterns (either made or purchased), and conclude with cookie and apple treats.
Please remember to bring your non-perishable food items for the food drive that night, if you choose.
Lanterns will be for sale at 3:15 on Friday, Oct. 27th. Any questions, please call Frau Tomkalski 393-5626
