French or Language-Free Math Resources

Multiple Math Domains:

ST Math (Math Intervention) – A language-free site with activities to help students build math concepts. Student progress here can be monitored by instructors.

Café des MATHadores – This French Canadian website offers four activities, each with multiple levels.  Games give students practice dividing objects into even groups, counting money, grouping items in a Venn diagram, and continuing patterns.

Taka t’amuser – A French educational site with math games for a variety of grade-levels.  Students build in math knowledge through activities practicing number sense, calculation, spatial memory and knowledge, and music. This site also offers paid mobile apps to build French math skills.

Complements of 10

La guerre des maths  – The player looks at the numbered ball in the “shooter”, and uses the mouse to aim at and click on the number that, when added, creates a pair that is equal to 10.   For example, if a 9 appears, the player must click on a ball with the number 1, which makes 10, to earn points in the game.

Maxétom: compliments a 10 – The player considers the number of pink cases in the tower of 10, which are represented by the number in the pink square on the equation.  They, then, click on the remaining cases to color them green and count them.  When they know the compliment, they click on the student with his hand in the air to be able to type their answer in the green square.

Picture Addition and “Doubles”

Aidemoi: additions – The player clicks on the blank case and enters the number which answers addition problem shown in the pictures.  To check their work they choose “Verifier”.  There are two pages of problems:  Exercice 1 & 2.

Picbille CP: activite 27 – The player clicks and drags each “double” to the number it represents.  They may check their work by choosing “Correction”.

Numbers and Operations:

BrainPOP: Nombres et opérations – French educational videos for upper elementary students focusing on math concepts such as the Distributive Property, the Associative Property, prime numbers, fractions, decimals, and Order of Operations

Algebraic Reasoning:

Function Machine – Activity for grades 2 and higher.  Students may choose to solve equations for the output, input, or function.

Maths à pic – Activity for grades 2 and higher.  Students must choose the missing function that makes the math sentence true.

Geometry and Measurement:

BrainPOP:  Géométrie et mesures – French educational videos for upper elementary students about calculating area, estimation and the properties of circles, triangles and polygons.

Apprendre à lire l’heure Exercice 1   &  Exercice 2 – Activities to practice telling time.  This might be tricky.  Some of the answers are in military (24 hour) time format.

Des mois de l’année – Students must read the names fro the months of the year and put them in order

Data Analysis and Probability:

BrainPOP: Analyse de donnees – French educational videos for upper elementary students about creating and analyzing graphs, finding and resolving inequalities, and exploring probability.
