Equity Committee

In 2014-15, the federal Office for Civil Rights (OCR) conducted an investigation regarding a complaint about the disproportionality of African American students receiving referrals, suspensions and other disciplinary actions within Milwaukee Public Schools.  MPS had to agree upon a set of actions to address this disportionality.

The MAM Equity Committee is the MAM response to the MPS Office of Civil Rights litigation and the subsequent MPS Board resolution.

MAM EC Long term goal:  

foster and maintain a community culture of antiracism and equity through a social justice lens for all students, and among staff and families at Maryland Avenue Montessori.
