Hello,
My name is Jineen McLemore Torres and I am the proud principal at James Madison Academic Campus (JMAC). Our school is located on the north side of Milwaukee at 8135 W. Florist Avenue, 53218. We strive to become one of the best high schools in the Milwaukee Public Schools district. To achieve this, we have many initiatives to attract and retain our students and teachers.
JMAC has partnered with the National Academy Foundation (NAF) to implement a stronger academic curriculum through two NAF academies that will prepare students for a career or higher education.
- The Academy of Finance (AOF) is the only such academy in the state of Wisconsin. Any student that successfully complete the course work will obtain a certificate that will signify preparedness to work in any financial organization. Some of our business partners are guaranteeing that those students will have an advantage for recruitment into their industry. The students will be exposed to many facets of the financial world that will open a gambit of opportunities. Students will also be exposed to varieties of opportunities in higher institutions.
- The Academy of Health Sciences (AOHS) will prepare students for entry level opportunities into the health industry and also expose them to the varieties of opportunities in health related courses in higher education. We are working with our partners to start C.N.A. classes and other front desk related duties in health fields.
- The Academy of Hospitality and Tourism (AOH&T) prepares students for entry opportunities in one of the top three economic sectors in Wisconsin – the hospitality and tourism industry. Through partnerships with industry professionals in culinary and event planning employment, our courses expose students to the variety of opportunities and higher education coursework related to hospitality services as well as culinary arts.
There is variety of support staff ready to assist your children to be successful. City Year is a national organization that works with our freshmen to provide academic help and to guide them through their first year in high school.
Violence Free Zone: This group assists our young adults to talk through issues before escalating to violence. They talk to students and assist in resolving issues with others students, staff and administration.
Athletics is an extension of the school day. JMAC has an award winning athletic program. We hope your children will participate in one of the many different sports offered at JMAC.
If you have any questions please contact us at the listed e-mail address or phone numbers.
It is our hope that the community will take a second look at all of the wonderful things JMAC has in place for the upcoming school year. Please consider selecting our campus to assist in educating our young men and women to achieve greater heights and be better prepared for their post-secondary education or career.
Sincerely,
Jineen Mclemore Torres, Principal
