On Wednesday, December 17, 2014, the auditorium filled with anticipation as the young ladies who attended our annual session rushed to their seats to be empowered, and receive an impartation that would be life changing!
Here at JMAC, this annual event is one of many support tools that foster the education, and progression of the participants of the Young Ladies Mentoring group headed by Mildred Coby.
This year we were graced to have as our panelist: Mrs. Clarence Mitchell, (Black Health Coalition of Wisconsin, Communications & Collaboration,PR); Mrs. Wanda Montgomery, (Local President & National Member Black Child Development Inst., Community Partnership Children’s Hospital of Milwaukee); Attorney Bettie A. Rodgers, (Attorney Bettie A. Rodgers Law Offices, Sole Proprietor); and Dr. Annette Stokes, (Innovative Health Care Medical Facility , Sole Proprietor). Each woman shared her story of struggle which essentially served as the bridge to carry her to her place of accomplishment and success.
Each woman, equally powerful and influential in her area of affluence, unfolded to our girls a road map to success, as well as a plan to help get them there. When the event came to a close many of the girls were so intrigued that they lingered to ask personal questions of the panelist.
The students were inspired, and challenged to reach for their goals regardless to what circumstances may confront them. It was rewarding to see the students’ embrace of the panelist. The highlight of the day was when one of the girls exclaimed, “I have never seen so many brilliant, successful women, who look like me!” WOW!
We are grateful for the impact made on these young ladies and we are looking forward to next year!
