Dear Honey Creek School Community,
Hello friends, parents, and students! My name is Gitanjali Chawla and I am the Principal at Honey Creek School. I came to Honey Creek in April 1995 as a parent, began volunteering and eventually became a teaching assistant. I enjoyed working with the students so much that I chose to take on responsibilities as a classroom teacher for second and third grade students. My unwavering belief that education is key, coupled with the desire to make a difference in the lives of our children – the leaders of tomorrow, motivated me to invest further in education and I went on to become the Implementer and then the Assistant Principal. Finally, my journey has put me in my current position as the proud Principal of Honey Creek. I attended UW-Milwaukee and Alverno to further enhance my education to be where I am today! Responsible, caring, and knowledgeable professionals at both institutes helped make all of this a reality for me. Honey Creek has been my second home ever since I moved to the United States from India. It is a K3 – grade 5 (K3 is for students who are eligible for specialized services) school with a capacity of 400+ students. It is my honor to work with bright and beautiful children, a champion staff, and involved parents.
It is our mission to provide a quality educational program full of rich and meaningful experiences for all of our children so that they are on the path for college and career readiness! Those of you who have met and worked with me over the years know that you can expect tireless dedication, fairness, and high standards for students, staff, and me along with a positive attitude and continuous recognition of student and staff achievement.
I am a firm believer in securing the safety of every member of our school community and find that if we require students to take responsibility for small mistakes or unwise choices more serious challenges are less likely to occur. Honey Creek has a nurturing environment and students understand that our guidelines are made with their safety and educational success in mind. Staff and students want to be here because they know they are truly cared for. This highly positive atmosphere makes academic advancement and emotional well-being a reality. Our students work diligently to meet the expectations of the Common Core State Standards and we continue to strive to reach even higher levels of achievement in all subject areas.
Honey Creek parents are key stakeholders and they participate in a multitude of opportunities that keep them involved in their child/children’s education. Students rely on a strong support system as they develop into confident, responsible, and productive decision makers who are prepared to meet the demands of the global economy. We offer a variety of events throughout the year so that Honey Creek families have the opportunity to experience Honey Creek’s learning environment first hand, interact with other families, and build a strong connection between other families, students, staff, and the community.
I look forward to working closely with all of you every school year and vow to uphold Honey Creek School’s reputation as a quality educational institute as well as to elevate programming and student achievement in the months and years ahead!
I welcome and encourage all volunteers willing to work with children to contact Honey Creek at (414) 604-7900. Families interested in enrolling their child/children are welcome to call and schedule a personal tour of our school. Our educational program sells itself!
