According to Title 10, Section 2031 of the United States Code, the purpose of JROTC is “to instill in students in secondary educational institutions the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment.” Students in JROTC develop good habits of citizenship and patriotism, self-reliance, leadership, service responsiveness to constituted authority, team building skills, and basic military skills. Students are expected to perform service to the school through the Colorguard and by assisting at various school activities. They also volunteer their time in the larger Milwaukee area through several community service projects. Students taking three or four years of courses allows the cadets to instantly rank higher if they pursue a military career. An integrated curriculum with other academic content areas enables students to meet college entrance requirements.
