Hamilton has the largest offering of honors and Advanced Placement (AP) classes on the south side of Milwaukee. Honors classes give students opportunities to take challenging courses in preparation for college. AP classes follow the honors classes and are part of a nation-wide program that enables high school students to take college-level courses and exams while still in high school. Students may obtain college credit after passing the College Board Exam, which will save the student time and money by not having to take that class once in college. AP classes also give students the opportunity to demonstrate a willingness to take challenging classes, thus improving the chances of obtaining scholarships and being accepted in colleges.
AP Capstone™ is a College Board program that equips students with the independent research, collaborative teamwork, and communication skills that are increasingly valued by colleges. It cultivates curious, independent, and collaborative scholars and prepares them to make logical, evidence-based decisions.
