The mission of the Trade and Technology Education Department at Hamilton High School is to provide students with the opportunity to understand industrial technologies and processes as a base for career and post-secondary opportunities. Students will demonstrate creative thinking, problem-solving skills, literacy in writing, teamwork and team building, and develop a positive attitude toward lifelong learning. The department will use K-l2 learning goals and National and State of Wisconsin Technology Standards as its foundation for the curriculum. The Trade and Technology Education Department will use integrated and hands-on instruction to provide entry-level skills and awareness of post-secondary education and employment opportunities that exist in industry and business.
Communications Technology Cluster
The Communications Technology Cluster’s mission is essentially the same as the Trade and Technology Education Department’s in that it enhances students’ awareness of careers and post-secondary options available in the communications industry. Students will have many hands-on experiences in the areas of design, printing methods (offset, digital, xerographic, screen, etc.), desktop publishing, electronic, audio-visual, media communications, and photography. They will develop creative and critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and positive attitudes toward work, lifelong learning, and success as individuals.
NOTE: Safety and Fees
Students must act in a responsible manner so as not to endanger their safety or the safety of others around them. Failure to do so may result in the removal of the student from the Trade and Technology Education class. Unsafe behavior may also prevent students from taking any other course in the Trade and Technology Education Department. All courses in the Trade and Technology Education Department will require students to pay a minimal fee to cover the cost of materials for the projects they work on and may take home.
