PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) is a framework for increasing student achievement and decreasing behavior problems and office referrals. U.S. Grant School Expectations Be Safe, be respectful, and be responsible. Students receive Star Cards when they put these expectations into practice.
What outcomes are associated with implementation of PBIS?
Schools that establish systems to implement PBIS have teaching and learning environments that are:
-Proactive, safe, and effective
-More responsive, preventative, and productive
-Focused on maximizing academic engagement and achievement while addressing classroom management and disciplinary issues
-Supportive of all students
What does PBIS look like here at U.S. Grant?
-We are focusing on four areas of the building: the classroom, cafeteria, bathrooms, and hallways.
-In these areas we have established school-wide expectations.
-Students have been taught the behaviors that are expected in these locations and receive positive feedback (Star Cards) and incentives when they meet the expectations.
Together PBIS and U.S. Grant are Super Stars!
