Join these virtual sessions on Thursday, May 19th to learn more about what to expect for your students at the next grade level. Teachers from each grade level will present information about how to help your student be successful at their new level. This night is a great time to learn about our Lower Elementary (1st-3rd) at 6pm, Upper Elementary (4th-6th) at 6:30pm, and the Adolescent program (7th-8th) at 7pm.

Thank you Fernwood Adolescents
Thank you to our Fernwood adolescent students who moved 20! yards of soil to fill the new planter boxes in front of our greenhouse. The pile of soil was the size of a small garage! Thank you also to the Fernwood Fund for the funds to do this project. Watch for beautiful plants to be growing there soon.
A Surprise for Principal Sanchez
The PTO would like to put together a parting gift for the man who’s done so much for Fernwood these past fourteen years. Please use this form to share a story, memory, message, or well wishes for the wonderful Principal Sanchez who is retiring after his 14th year with Fernwood Montessori and 39th year in public education. Everything we collect will be put together in a scrapbook and gifted to Principal Sanchez. Students will also have an opportunity to create artworks & share messages in their classrooms. Submission Deadline: May 26th Form to Upload Your Message
Montessori Experience Day
On May 25th, 2022 Fernwood Montessori will be holding an Experience Day. We kindly ask that all students bring a cold lunch to school this day, since there will be many moving pieces during lunch (we will of course have hot lunches available if students need to order one, as always).
During Experience Day, students in K5, 3rd grade and 6th grade will have the opportunity to visit a classroom for a few hours at the next level to gain understanding about what their next classroom may look like and feel like, and will be welcomed by a student ambassador well established within that classroom community. Please note that we have paired teachers up for Experience Day, and the classrooms that students will visit have no bearing on their classroom placement for the fall. The purpose of this day is to help students feel comfortable and safe in their transition to the next level, while also building leadership skills in students who will be remaining in their classrooms next year.
Students in K4 will be invited by their primary teacher to attend school for a full-day. Teachers will communicate with parents about a schedule.
Please reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions.

Driving/Parking Around Fernwood
This morning we witnessed a fender bender as a Fernwood parent blocked a neighbor’s driveway on Falling Heath Place. Fortunately no one was hurt. Please be respectful of our neighbors and do not park over their driveways. Please also obey all no parking, no stopping signs as you are dropping off your students. The parking/stopping regulations are in place for the safety of our entire community.

Fernwood Facebook Community Group
The intent of this group is for parents and guardians of current Fernwood students to be resources to each other, provide support, and build a sense of community. Moving forward membership is going to be limited to families with current Fernwood students. We appreciate the past participation of former community members and extended family members in this group and as a member of the Fernwood extended community. If those people would like to stay connected to the happenings at Fernwood, they can check out Fernwood’s website. Our newsletters are posted there weekly. This is a great way to learn about community events at Fernwood and volunteer opportunities.
Additionally, we are looking for a guardian of a current Fernwood student to be the administrator for this group.
If you have any questions or if you are willing to be an administrator of this group, reach out to Jenni Navidad, Fernwood Parent Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Field day is back! This fun filled afternoon will be held on June 10th from 12-2pm on the West playground for 1-8th grade students. (K5 students will have a fun afternoon on the East playground) We are looking for adult volunteers who would like to come and have fun with our students and run the game stations. We are looking for volunteers from 11:30pm-2:30pm. (We already have filled all the spots for student volunteers.) If you are interested, please reach out to Sally Siegel at email@example.com.
Can’t make it to the event? We are looking for donations of bubbles and icee pops. If you would like to donate either of these items, please send them to Jenni in the office by June 3rd.
