Earlier today 200+ upper elementary students from Fernwood traveled to South Shore Park to eat hot dogs and play together in the sand and sun all day long. Before we ventured down to the lake I received many generous gifts from families this morning. Thank you all for thinking of me!
After a long day yesterday of rain followed up by a little morning rain the weather slowly started to cooperate: Partly cloudy and comfortable temperatures. You would think 5 hour in the park would be too much for our students but it just isn’t. The kids were filled with enthusiasm, great joy, freedom, and love for one another. It was a true celebration of the first day of summer!
In the afternoon, the class walked over to the South Shore beach for our traditional 6th grade Farewell Ceremony. We once again went around to give each person an opportunity to share a memory about the 6th graders from this school year. Many classmates gave his or her farewell to the one-third of our existing class who will be parting ways with them. I realized in that moment just how much I would miss this beautiful group of children. Truly, these 8 humans are some of the best 6th graders I’ve had the privilege to work with at Fernwood to date. Farewell adieu my little loves…
I will cherish these and other memories of our sweet, kindhearted 6th graders and class forever. They possess great patience and wisdom beyond their years, much more than me! I am confident they will go on to be great leaders in our community, to contribute necessary things to our society and to take care of us when we need them most.
Thank you 6th graders for 3 wonderful years. The time spent with you was a gift. And to my fourth and fifth grade families, I’m looking forward to working with you again next year! I love you all.
Calling all new 6th graders!
You are invited to help Ms. Stefanie set up the classroom this August 2019. Teachers are back to school on August 26th. It would be fantastic if you could help out all or any of the afternoons Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday of that week (Friday is usually reserved for classmates to come in and drop off materials).
Please email me and let me know if you can help out. I will send out a reminder email later this summer. Thanks so much and happy summer!!
