The last day of school is quickly sneaking up on us! It is a time to celebrate another successful year of community and learning. As has been our tradition, we plan to spend the day at South Shore Park playing games and grilling out with the other upper elementary classrooms. *For your information, students are not allowed near the water shoreline (whether with or without an adult) during our school outing.
The cost for this activity will be $0 per student. Each student should provide his/her own beverage for lunch (*no soda, please). I recommend your child bring along a small metal water bottle which can be refilled at the pavilion.
We will leave school around 9:00 am and return to Fernwood at approximately 2:00 pm. Since we will be spending the entire day outside, it is very important for your child to dress for the weather.
Permission slips will go home on Wednesday along with a note indicating what your child has volunteered to bring to the picnic. Please plan for 30 students and 3-5 adults. Non-perishable food items can be stored at school at any time. In contrast, have your child bring perishable items on Thursday, June 13th. I will bring veggie dogs for vegetarians. Extra food is also generally shared among all the classrooms. Unused and unopened food will be donated to the Bay View Community Center’s food pantry.
This permission slip should be returned to school by Wednesday, June 12th, 2019.
Summer birthdays have also been traditionally celebrated at the park on the last day of school. If your child has a summer birthday and wishes to bring a special treat, have them do this on the last day of school.
