Here are some things to remember about 4th grade this year:
-Class Dojo is an online behavior program that the 4th grade will be using to keep track of points for things like participation, Be-Attitudes (being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible), and school behavior. Parents can download the app onto their phone and be informed of their child’s behavior throughout the day. There is also a class story feature that the teacher can use to show pictures of activities the class does. Lastly, parents/teachers can message each other. I use all components of Class Dojo. The student can log onto the program to create their own avatar once the parent gives permission by signing up for the site. Please see first Tuesday folder for instructions. *If you have lengthy concerns about your child, please use Mrs. Docter’s email-see below
-Fruit/Veggie/Dairy breaks are at 9:30 daily. Items that are highly recommended are fruit, veggies (no dips please), cheese sticks, yogurt, Go-Gurt (if you freeze this, it stays cold until snack time). Please only send 1 serving as the snack needs to be eaten in a 10-15 minute period. Often we will be having a working fruit break. We may have peanut allergies in our class so please refrain from sending anything containing nuts.
-Homework is written down in the planner by your child. We often do this together as a large group. I will be sending mostly Math practice home Mon.-Thurs. If there is no homework, please have your child read 20 minutes either aloud to you, together, or independently. Your child should also be working on their Math multiplication facts starting with 6’s. Please practice 6-9’s on a consistent basis after they have mastered 0-5’s.
-Being on time every day is an important part of our routine. If your child is late on a consistent basis, the time will add up as absences. We go over our day, and important announcements in the first 10 minutes of the day. Please makes sure your child meets us on the playground at the 7:30 bell so they get their Dojo points for being on time.
-Specials: We will have Gym on ‘A’ days (on a rotating ‘A’-‘B’-‘C’ day basis)
–We are fortunate to have ART at Cooper 3 days a week. Our day will be Fridays from 8:35-9:20
-Library will be on Thursdays. If you’re child turned in the library compact he/she will be able to check out a book for up two weeks at a time with one renewal.
