Burdick School participated in the annual Milwaukee Public Schools track meet on May 29 at Vincent High School. All members competed very well, and Burdick brought home many first-place awards. Congratulations, track athletes!
Thank you to all attended and contributed to the second annual Burdick Cultural Potluck gathering. A great time was shared by all. Special thanks to seventh-grade students Hailey Modjeska, Ria Hollenbeck, Johanna Garcia Villa, and Jeffery Bates for initiating and coordinating the event. You all did a spectacular job!

A team representing A E Burdick School recently earned Highest Honors in the 2018-19WordMasters Challenge™—a national vocabulary competition involving nearly 150,000 students annually. The sixth grade team scored an impressive 186 points out of a possible 200 in the last of three meets this year, placing tenth in the nation.
The sixth graders also placed tenth nationally in the overall competition with a cumulative score of 535 points out of a possible 600.
Competing in the difficult Blue Division of theWordMasters Challenge™, sixth grader Ada Melendez earned a perfect score of 20 in the recent meet. Nationally, only 49 sixth graders achieved this result. Other students at A E Burdick School who achieved outstanding results in the last meet of the year include sixth graders Will Berger, Josi Estremera, Tyler Jung and Brodie Stenseth.
A special thank you to all the volunteers who dedicate countless hours to the children of Burdick School. The students, staff, and community are eternally grateful for your efforts and Burdick would not be what it is without you.
The Mother-Daughter Book Club had its last meeting of the school year with a very special guest! After reading A Dreadful Fairy Book, author Jon Etter came for a visit to have a discussion with the girls about what it meant for him to write such a visual, colorful story. Truly a fairytale for readers of all ages!
Wrapping up a successful first year of the Father-Son Book Club. Thanks to Mr. Kubicek and Mike Santiago-Ignasiak for organizing such a meaningful afterschool activity for middle school boys!
