General Information
Burdick School’s Wrap Around program offers before and after school care for students in grades K4-8. Our program provides:
- An after school snack
- A study hall and homework help
- A variety of games and activities
- Supervision by Burdick staff
Hours of Operation
Session I: 6:30 a.m. to 7:15 a.m.
In Session I students are dropped off in the library where they are able to finish the previous night’s homework, browse books or magazines from the awesome Burdick collection, or watch a little T.V. and just mentally prepare for a day of learning. This session becomes particularly helpful during the winter months when many parents don’t want their child waiting on those cold bus stops.
Session II: 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Session II begins immediately after the end of the regular school day. Kindergarten students are escorted to the cafeteria while the older students arrive after being dismissed by their teachers. We take accurate attendance and check the Wrap Around list against the list of students who were absent during the school day to ensure each child is safe and sound. During this session each child is given a snack to enjoy.
After snack, students are given the opportunity to go to the homework room where an instructor can provide any help and tutoring that is needed. Students are also given the chance to read, play games, draw, color, or just relax and talk with friends. Each day, during this session, we strive to get the kids outside (weather permitting) or into the gym for some fun and exercise.
When the gym is occupied and the weather is poor we will take groups of kids to the computer lab for an extra chance to complete homework or to hone their computer skills.
Session III: 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Students who attend Session III are usually ready to relax a bit. With the smaller group we are often able to organize a game or two that challenges the students to think. Often, children just like to read or listen to music. This is also a great time to for children to get a little more help with homework or take advantage of some one on one tutoring.
Fees
One daily fee of $13.00 per child gives parents the option of attending all 3 of the offered sessions. A schedule must be completed and payment must be made ahead of time in order to have children attend.
Late fees are $5.00 per child after the 2nd session and $1.00 per minute, per child, after the 3rd session. Registration paperwork, schedules, and payments must be in before children attend.
