The Burdick Blue basketball team defeated Bethune on Saturday 31-19. Eight Panthers scored, led by Leo Berger’s nine points. Burdick trailed for most of the first half, but trimmed it’s deficit to one by halftime as Micael Feliciano sunk a three-pointer at the buzzer. Relentless pressure by Jayson Hernandez, Damien Johnson, and Berger forced many turnovers in the third quarter and Burdick held Bethune to five points for the entire second half to secure the victory.
The Burdick Gold basketball team dropped a 37-16 decision to the Milwaukee Academy of Science. However, Burdick played a strong second half as Zachary Perry and Nathan Renfro each scored four points, and Rin Santiago-Ignasiak and Marcus Mason played aggressive defense and secured rebounds. Amani Anderson added a three-point basket for the Panthers.
The Burdick 6th-grade basketball team’s defense dominated a much bigger MacDowell-Juneau on the way to an 11-4 victory. MacDowell-Jueau’s offense had been setting the league on fire and the Panthers shut them down.
The Burdick volleyball team extended its perfect record by defeating HAPA 25-8, 25-9, and 25-3. Leo Berger dominated the first set with his overhand serves. Milayna Hilger served up 10 points in the second set and Riley Greenmeier’s serves led the Panthers in the third set.
Great effort, teams!
