Position / Department:
1st grade teacher
I love sharing the experience with students when they reach their goals. I feel that all students have the ability to learn and be successful. You just have to help them find their way.
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”
– Dr. Seuss
I took ballet and dance lessons for 10 years, and now I enjoy my watching my daughter who performs on a competitive dance team. I also have three boys who I watch compete in football, basketball, and soccer throughout the school year. I have been married for almost 19 years, and love to go to Disney World with my family. We have been there 4 times, and I even went for my honeymoon.
I have a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
I am certified to teach in preschool through third grade.
Did you go directly to college / work or did you follow another route?
I have worked since I was fourteen years old, and went directly to college out of high school. I did take a year off, and had my first baby before I began my first full year of teaching. I also was a substitute teacher for 6 months prior to that as well.
Activities Involved In While In College:
I enjoy photography, and traveling with my friends and family. I coached middle school cheerleading for a few years and enjoy working with students of all ages.
Rewarding Moment at Bruce School:
A student that I taught in first grade thanked me in her fifth grade graduation speech, and said that I was one of the reasons that she works so hard and has become so smart. It made me feel good about the work I do with children here at Bruce.
