Congratulations to the following students who met all the requirements to be part of the Harley-Davidson/MATC training cohort this spring. These students will continue to receive support from H-D mentors and BT staff in strengthening important workplace and life skills. The ultimate goal is to qualify for an apprenticeship in machinery repair, tool and die repair or industrial electricity. At the end of the four-month training program, students may be selected for Youth Apprenticeship that begin in July.
Through the program, BT and MATC will help students accelerate applied math skills, reading for information, and writing proficiency for the important communications skills necessary in a high tech work setting. They also must prove competencies in precise measuring, and always show a passion for manufacturing.
This is the second year H-D has partnered with BT and the students who have selected the school’s academies of manufacturing and pre-engineering. Four students from the 2018 cohort are currently employed as youth apprentices at the Pilgrim Road Powertrain Operations facility.
