Bradley Tech Family,
As you may be aware, there is a total eclipse of the sun on August 21, 2017. The eclipse will occur between 11:53 a.m. and 2:40 p.m., with a maximum eclipse time of 1:18 p.m. In Milwaukee, this means that 86% percent of the sun will be covered at the maximum point in the eclipse.
Close to the maximum point in the eclipse, we will take the students outside to view this once-in-a-lifetime event. Prior to going outside, safety procedures will be reviewed, and students will be provided with safety glasses for viewing the eclipse. Staring directly at the sun is never safe, and this eclipse is strong enough to cause damage to vision if students do not wear their safety glasses and follow safety directions. Please remind your student to follow all safety precautions as outlined by their teacher.
If you do not wish for your student to go outside to view the eclipse, please download and return this Parent Letter.
