May 14 is ‘Kindness Day’ in Milwaukee, thanks to MPS 3rd graders

Victory Students with KINDNESS PROCLAMATIONThanks to the work of Grade 3 students at Victory School, Mayor Tom Barrett proclaimed May 14, 2014, as ‘Kindness Day’ in the City of Milwaukee. Students proudly display the proclamation which was read at the Common Council meeting Wednesday. Ms. Domagalski’s class has promoted kindness throughout the school and now, throughout the city!

Victory K-8 School for the Gifted and Talented and Italian Immersion was honored as a “School of Merit” by the Wisconsin RtI Center/Wisconsin PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Network for honored for successfully implementing PBIS including training staff, teaching students about the program and regularly meeting to examine data and evaluate the program’s success. PBIS is a successful approach used around the country to improve school climate through the teaching, reinforcement, and support of positive behaviors.
