Invention Convention at Curtin Academy

Following their study of inventors and their inventions, students at Jeremiah Curtin Leadership Academy participated in an “Invention Convention” that focused on the theme, “Making Household Chores Easier”.

The students were challenged to think of an invention that makes it easier to complete their household chores. They had to find creative solutions to their problems using scientific and engineering practices.

Students brainstormed ways to make household chores easier. The student who didn’t like making his bed invented a robot called “The Bed-Maker.” A student who gets bored mopping floors invented a musical mop. Other solutions were found for washing dishes, taking out the trash, sweeping floors and feeding pets.

The Invention Convention allowed students to take the lessons they are learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum and make real world connections.
