Rufus King to host pep rally for girls basketball team

An all-school pep rally is planned for 8:00 Thursday morning, March 22 at Rufus King International School, 1801 W. Olive Street.

The school’s students, staff, cheerleaders and band will be part of the rally, in the effort to give the girls basketball team and coaches an exciting send-off as they head to Madison for Division 1 tournament play.

The girls team won its sectional championship game last Saturday against Oak Creek.   The girls will play Middleton (21-5) on Friday evening at the Kohl Center in Madison; this semi-final game is scheduled for approximately 8:30 p.m.

If the Rufus King Lady Generals (20-6) win their game against Middleton, they advance to a Division 1 championship game with either DePere or Oshkosh West on Saturday, March 24, at approximately 8:30 p.m.

“This is the team to watch,” said Superintendent Gregory Thornton.  “I want Milwaukee to get behind our girls.  Each one of these players makes us proud.  Best of luck to them.”
