Bay View students take on CEO role for JA Challenge

MILWAUKEE – Five students from Milwaukee Public Schools’ Bay View High School got a chance to take on the role of CEO last month in the Junior Achievement Business Challenge.

The students – Andre Horton, Michele Kosmalski, Roger Roque, Sheldon Sisks and Yue Pheng Vang – are all members of Bay View’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) organization.

During the challenge, students used an online simulation to analyze situations, respond to time-pressure demands, interpret data and build consensus while working as a team. They had to set product prices and compete against other teams to turn a profit.

“It’s a great opportunity — especially for students who want to be entrepreneurs — allowing them to participate in a simulation where they are in control,” Bay View business education teacher Donnie Galloway said.
