Washington honor-roll students greet President Obama

MILWAUKEE — Honor-roll students at Washington High School of InformWashington High School of Information Technology students greet President Obamaation Technology took a few minutes out of their day Wednesday to welcome President Barack Obama with stars, stripes and banners as his motorcade drove past the iconic Sherman Boulevard school building during the president’s Milwaukee visit.

President Obama was in town to tout the “insourcing” of jobs to the Master Lock facility near 32nd Street and North Avenue.

Students submitted prose or poetry about the experience to the school newsletter. Here are two student haikus:

Did he see our work?
He drove by awfully fast
I feel accomplished

Standing with my star
Awaiting the president
Glad he took this route
