MILWAUKEE — A Milwaukee High School of the Arts student is leaving Friday morning (Feb. 3) for the GRAMMYs.
Felix Ramsey is one of only eight student singers from across the country invited to attend the award ceremony and perform at the official “GRAMMY Celebration.”
The 17-year-old tenor singer, who was selected for the week-long “GRAMMY Camp – Jazz Session,” will have the chance to perform in front of some of the biggest names in music.
“It’s just incredible,” Ramsey said. “I’m truly blessed to have this opportunity handed to me.”
Last year, he was invited to perform with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the San Diego Symphony Orchestra. He was also invited to Hollywood to compete for a spot as a finalist on the last season’s American Idol.
During his GRAMMY trip, Ramsey, along with seven other singers and 30 high school musicians in total, will have the chance to record at Capitol Studios and Mastering in Hollywood, courtesy of EMI Music Group.
Students selected for GRAMMY Camp – Jazz Session are eligible for more than $2 million in college scholarships made possible through the GRAMMY Foundation’s college partners: Berklee College of Music, Manhattan School of Music, the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and USC Thornton School of Music.
