More students are headed to college thanks to the MPS College Access Centers! In just two years, MPS’ two CACs have served more than 3,500 MPS students and community members. Nearly 1,000 seniors who sought help at the district’s south-side center last year earned more than $1.2 million in college scholarships.

Lawyers Work MAGIC at WCLL

IMG_2174v2Since “adopting” MPS’ Wisconsin Conservatory of Lifelong Learning (WCLL) last school year, Milwaukee’s largest law firm, Foley & Lardner, has forged a one-of-a-kind partnership with MPS and the WCLL staff in an attempt to bolster student achievement and positive behavior at the K3-12 school. Last month, Foley helped WCLL students and parents get off to a good start for the 2013-14 school year with a school-supply giveaway (right).

MPS Success Stories: Start. Stay. Succeed.

MPS grad Zhenrui Liao

After finishing seventh grade, Zhenrui Liao’s parents offered to send him to Greendale Middle School through the Chapter 220 program. Zhenrui (pronounced ZEN-ray) declined. Today, as a 2013 Rufus King International School graduate, he doesn’t regret his decision. “MPS is the future of Milwaukee,” he says.

Zhenrui – who just started his freshman year at Columbia University – is one of ten high-achieving MPS alumni we featured in our summer marketing campaign: Start at MPS. Stay at MPS. Succeed at MPS. The campaign highlights the achievements of these recent grads and the impact that MPS had on their success. Find out more about these MPS stars as they take on some of the nation’s top colleges.
